Responsibilities

Work with the Lead Developer on Database driven web sites built with Ruby on Rails.
Assist with production of client sites as well as our Social Network localelements.com.
Work with database architecture, performance increases and migrations.
Help with Unix scripting, Subversion maintenance and other web server tasks.
Hands on work with front-end interface as well.

Qualifications

Ability to hand-code (no Dreamweaver, Front-Page, Go-Live, etc.).
Basic understanding of HTML/XHTML, CSS and Javascript.
Basic knowledge of Object-Oriented programming.
If you know Ruby - that is a huge bonus! Previous experience with an OO language like PHP, C#, etc. helpful.
Basic knowledge of SQL. Familiarity with MySQL a plus.
Simple test will be given to determine skill level, but not necessarily dependent for hire.
Ability to work with graphics and Photoshop a plus.

Work Term

Position available for both the Fall and Spring semesters.
Applicants are not required for both semesters, but the company has the ability to extend an offer for the following semester.
10-20 work hours a week (with the possibility of more hours via offsite/telecommute)

Compensation

Hourly and/or Stipend DOE.
